MYSTIC — The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the grand opening of its Welcome Center at 62 Greenmanville Ave. today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The festivities are free and open to the public and will include a Q105 radio broadcast, food samples from local restaurants, beverages, games, prizes and giveaways. Beginning June 1, the Welcome Center will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors will be able to buy tickets to local attractions at discounted prices, receive dinner recommendations and reservation services, and learn about the area’s sights, landmarks and activities. The center is also the executive offices of the Greater Mystic Chamber.

“Mystic generates the lion’s share of tourism in Connecticut and we view this Welcome Center as an investment in the future of our local economy,” said Peggy Roberts, president of the Chamber. She pointed out that tourism accounts for 80,000 jobs and more than $14 billion in annual sales in Connecticut. For more information, go to www.mysticchamber.org.
