Heading out today? Bring an umbrella and be ready for some rain.

According to the National Weather Service, Westerly area residents should expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms through the morning, with showers becoming more likely as the day goes on. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and frequent lightning. Otherwise, the remainder of the day is expected to be cloudy with a high near 74.

On Wednesday night, expect a possible thunderstorm and temps down in the low 60s. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and frequent lightning. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent with new rainfall amounts between three quarters of an inch and one inch possible.

And Thursday’s not looking much better.
