State police announce 2nd arrest in 2006 killing of Groton man

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The Connecticut State Police have made a second arrest in the 2006 killing of Athony E. Hamlin of Groton, a father of five whose body was found in a field in Ledyard nearly 11 years ago. On Friday, Christopher Vincenti, 32, of New London was charged Friday with felony murder in the killing of Hamlin, according to a criminal information summary released by the police. He was being held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to appear Monday appearance in New London Superior Court.

On Oct. 6, Timothy Johnson, 32, of Norwich was arrested at Troop E in Montville and was held on a $1 million bond. The 40-year-old Hamlin was a member of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation. He was found dead of blunt force trauma to the head in January 2006, the day after telling a relative he was taking a train to Virginia.
