Man charged with attempted B & E

WESTERLY — A local man has been charged by Westerly police with the attempted break into a Sesame Street home Thursday.

Christopher P. Lessing, 41, of 30 Batterson Ave., was charged with two felony counts, attempted breaking and entering and making/repairing/possessing burglary tools.

The couple who live in the house said they observed Lessing trying to make entrance to the residence by using a screwdriver on the keypad to the garage when they came home. Police said when they arrived on the scene they found Lessing, a female and another male arguing. The couple told police Lessing was not wanted at the home and no one who lived there had invited him.

He was arrested on the charges and also issued a no trespass warning.
