    Victim identified in fatal Pawcatuck hit-and-run

    PAWCATUCK — The man found by the side of the road on Route 2 on Friday morning, after being hit by a vehicle, has been identified as Grover Moree, 51, of Robinson Street.

    Stonington police, the Pawcatuck Fire Department and the Westerly Ambulance Corps responded to a call at 5:11 a.m. Friday, reporting the hit-and-run accident.

    Moree was found on Route 2 near Route 78 and was transported by Lifestar air ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital at 6:13 a.m. Friday, according to Stonington Police Capt. Jerry Desmond.

    Moree died from the resulting injuries.

    No arrest has been made in the case. Stonington police are looking for the driver of a gray car that hit Moree and left the scene. The detective division is also involved in the investigation.
