    Westerly man faces heroin charge

WESTERLY — A 42-year-old School Street man was arrested on a felony drug charge Sunday following an investigation by Westerly detectives.

Paul Gene Egan, of 60 School St., was arrested after he turned himself in to police at the station on a warrant charging him with the alleged manufacture/possession/delivery of “brown” heroin. Police seized about $80 in heroin from Egan at the time he was initially charged.

Police detectives began the investigation in July, indicating they used surveillance and confidential informants in their probe. During the investigation, police said they observed both foot and vehicle traffic of suspected drug users entering and exiting the apartment.

Egan allegedly sold heroin to an informant who later identified him in a photo array as the person selling the drug.
