AGE: 50.

OCCUPATION: Writer, teacher.

RESIDENCE: Providence.

BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN: Lee, N. H., ... in the southeast corner/seacoast region of the state.

RIGHT NOW I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF: Working on my first novel and leading the Westerly Memoir project

FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND MY TIME: In nature: walking, hiking, swimming, gardening, playing Frisbee.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Getting married and publishing my book “Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks: An Epic Quest for Reality Among Role Players, Online Gamers, and Other Dwellers of Imaginary Realms.”

I’D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Helping others become better writers.

TOP ON MY BUCKET LIST: Writing and performing in a one-man show or trying to become a stand-up comic ... even if I fail miserably.

ALWAYS IN MY POCKET: A pen, and a 20-sided die.

WHAT I WANTED TO BE WHEN I GREW UP: A cartoonist or a filmmaker.

PERSON WHO HAS INFLUENCED ME THE MOST: My mother Gilsdorf ... and adapting to her life-altering brain injury when she was 38 and I was 12.

FAVORITE AUTHOR: A tie between J.R.R. Tolkien and Cheryl Strayed.

I AM READING: An old children’s book series from my past, called “The Great Brain,” written by John Dennis Fitzgerald. The semi-autobiographical novels are set in rural Utah at the end of the 19th century, and are told from the point of view of a younger brother about the adventures of his older brother (the “Great Brain”).

I AM LISTENING TO: A sweet collection of hits from the 1970s.

FAVORITE MOVIE OR LAST MOVIE WATCHED: “The Fellowship of the Ring” (last watched this weekend, with my nephews).

FAVORITE TV SHOW: Favorite show as a kid: “The Six Million Dollar Man”; most recent TV show that I fell in love with: “Stranger Things”

FAVORITE PET: Our dog, Frannie, the Catahoula/lab mix my wife Mary Ann and I recently adopted.

FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD: Bananas, chocolate and coffee ... it’s a three-way tie.

AMOUNT OF TIME I SPEND ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Too much time. Help!

TRAIT I MOST ADMIRE: The ability to listen and ask questions.

PET PEEVE: Littering, drivers who don’t use turn signals.

FAVORITE QUOTATION: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” — Gandalf (from J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”)

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD: The friendly, neighborly vibe.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: My therapist.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m an introvert (but have worked hard not to be).

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED: “You can do it,” – my wife Mary Ann.

ADVICE I BEST LIKE TO GIVE: “Do. Or do not. There is no try,” — spoken by my guru, Yoda.

IF I RULED THE WORLD I WOULD: Using my evil powers, I would work to improve income equity and ensure universal access to health care. Also, I’d live in a secret underground lair.

IF I WON THE LOTTERY, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS: Pay off my debts, then build a castle on the ocean.

I DRIVE A: 2000 Subaru Outback

I WISH I DROVE A: 2017 Subaru Outback.

ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE: Cheddar cheese, a six pack of Narragansett, leftovers.

IF I COULD INVITE ONE SPECIAL PERSON TO JOIN ME FOR DINNER AND CONVERSATION, I WOULD INVITE: My mother.
