WESTERLY — After months of planning, the Walldogs weekend has finally arrived. Beginning with tonight’s food stroll, the next two days will be packed with activities, including — in addition to the mural painting — a block party tonight; a book signing Friday with Jay Robert Allen, an original Walldog and author of “The Walldogs: A Different Breed of Public Art Muralists”; a beer garden, an art auction, trolley rides, and a number of children’s activities.

Thursday

7 a.m.-7 p.m.: Mural painting at various locations in downtown Westerly and Pawcatuck

5-10 p.m.: Westerly-Pawcatuck Downtown Food Stroll & Block Party - streets closed!

5-8 p.m.: Food Stroll (tickets available at bricksandmurals.org) with live music at various locations.

8-9:30 p.m.: The Cartells live in front of the United Theatre

Friday

7 a.m.-7 p.m.: Mural painting at various locations in downtown Westerly and Pawcatuck

4-9 p.m.: Trolley running along mural route. Free rides to view murals and painting in progress.

5-8 p.m.: Live music at various locations.

6-8 p.m.: Savoy Bookshop & Café presents a Bricks and Murals book signing with Jay Robert Allen, the author of “The Walldogs: A Different Breed of Public Art Muralists” and member of the Walldogs. The book signing will be an open house event.

7-9:30 p.m.: Beer Garden at Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island

Saturday

7 a.m.-7 p.m.: Mural painting at various locations in downtown Westerly and Pawcatuck

10 a.m. Walking tour of Wilcox Park, Westerly guided by Alan Peck, director of the park

10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Mural-themed children’s activities in Wilcox Park

• Do-it-yourself boats for the pond and/or take home. Learn about the steamships, ferries, and boats and remind participants that the pond once held handmade toy boats.

• Oversized granite blocks made out of cardboard boxes for children to build to learn about and remember the local granite industry.

• Letterpress printing kid craft to learn about local industrial cultural.

• Interactive hurricane/tornado vortex activity to learn about the 1938 Hurricane, its impact on Westerly, and disaster preparedness.

• String phone activity to learn about the Westerly Automatic Telephone Company.

• Coloring pages for Pequot Trail and Native American Heritage and Italian heritage to learn about this local culture and heritage in Westerly-Pawcatuck.

• Stonington/Westerly football rivalry head-in-hole photo booth. Children and families can reminisce about this historical sports rivalry and have their picture taken as one of the team’s athletes.

• Make and take home your own herb garden. To celebrate both Wilcox Park and the local Italians’ gardens we will offer seeds and containers to create at home herb gardens to learn about native plants and the importance of home gardens and public parks.

• Civil War camp for kids to play and to learn about Westerly’s connection to the Civil War as well as teach about camp life.

• “Paint by Number” Children’s activity in parking lot behind 18 High St. Paint some of the Bricks and Murals mural themes and let your children share a similar experience as the other wall artists.

10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Trackless train rides for children in Wilcox Park.

11:30 a.m.-9 p.m.: Trolley running along mural route. Free rides to view murals and painting in progress.

1-4 p.m.: Live Music at Donahue Park, Pawcatuck — Some of Nine

1-2:30 p.m.: Westerly Band at the bandstand in Wilcox Park

2-5 p.m.: Free horse and wagon rides beginning in front of the U.S. Post Office on High Street

3-4:30 p.m.: Rockin’ Recliners Band on Westerly Library esplanade

5-8 p.m.: Live music at various locations

• Living the Dream at the Westerly Public Library esplanade

• Laura Dowding at Pizzeria Longo

• Brandon & Elena at Savoy Bookshop Café

• Sands of Time at Mia’s Café, 1 W. Broad St.

7-9 p.m.: Public auction of original art by Walldog Artists at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly

8 p.m.: Winner-take-all raffle prize drawing at the Public Auction of Original Art by Walldog Artists at The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly

Sunday

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Trolley running along mural route. Free rides to view the completed murals in downtown Westerly and Pawcatuck
