WESTERLY — Richard Anthony has resigned from the Finance Board, citing time he spends out of town during the winter as the reason for his resignation.
“I expect to be a nonresident for the majority of the winter and current statutes do not permit teleconferencing,” Anthony said in a resignation letter to the Town Council.
Anthony, a former Republican member of the Town Council, was appointed to the Finance Board in December 2012. He resigned from the Republican Town Committee prior to his appointment in accord with a provision in the Town Charter which prohibits members of town and state political committees from serving on Finance Board.
The Town Council accepted Anthony’s resignation Monday.
