Man charged after entering wrong home

STONINGTON— A Farmholme Road man was arrested by Stonington police early Saturday morning after he allegedly entered another person’s Upper Pawcatuck home, thinking it was his own.

John Wolcott Shea, 54, of 137 Farmholme Road, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass, breach of peace: non-assaultive and non-threatening, possession of a controlled substance: narcotics and operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police responded to a call from residents of a home on Croft Court around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Louis Diamanti, reporting that a man had entered their home. Responding officers discovered Shea at the home, his car parked outside because he had driven to the address and entered, thinking it was his own house. According to police, a subsequent search revealed that Shea had cocaine with him and had been drinking, which officers believe led him to confuse the Croft Court home with his own.

Shea was charged and arraigned at the station.
