Groton police say child left in hot car for about an hour

GROTON — Groton Town Police arrested and charged two New London residents with risk of injury to a child after an 8-year-old was left for 45 minutes in a car where temperatures reached 114 degrees.

According to police, officers responded to a shopping center at 664 Long Hill Road Tuesday and found the child in the car with two windows cracked open slightly. Upon investigation, police said, they learned the child had been in the parked car for nearly an hour.

Police arrested Amboirix Rondon, 61, and Maria Rondon, 53, both of 56 Anthony Road, Apt. B, New London, and charged them with risk of injury to a child and leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle.

The two were released on $2,500 bond with an Aug. 11 court date.
