Westerly police in search of red Chevy pickup

WESTERLY — Detectives with the Westerly Police Department are looking for a red Chevy S-10 pickup truck in conjunction with an investigation into the robbery of Stop N Go Food Mart on Sunday afternoon.

In reviewing footage from surveillance cameras after the unarmed, masked man robbed the Main Street store on Sunday, detectives discovered video of a person matching the suspect’s description, along with a red truck behind the store, according to Police Chief Edward St. Clair. Since the discovery, detectives have been trying to locate the truck, hoping it will lead them to the suspect.

Store workers described the robber as being about 6 feet tall, dressed in black clothes and wearing high-top sneakers on the day of the robbery. Anybody with information is asked to call police at 401-595-2022.
