CHARLESTOWN — A 2-year-old Massachusetts toddler was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence Sunday night after he fell into a campfire in Burlingame State Park, according to rescue personnel.

According to Charlestown Rescue Chief Patrick McMahon, Westerly Ambulance Corps personnel were sent to the scene for a burn victim at about 8 p.m. because two Charlestown ambulances were sent for a mutual aid call in Richmond.

Westerly Ambulance Chief Bethany Gingerella said the boy, from Westfield, Mass., reportedly suffered burns on his face, arms and torso. He had apparently been running, tripped and fell into the campfire, according to reports on the incident.
