Public hearing Wednesday on title transfer of Fellows Street Ext.

STONINGTON — Public input is being sought on a proposal to transfer the title for a portion of Fellows Street Extension in Pawcatuck to the Stonington Housing Authority.

The public hearing, slated for Wednesday at 7 p.m., will open the regular Stonington Board of Selectmen meeting to be held in the Stonington Police Department Community Room.

In mid-April, the Housing Authority received a thumbs-up from the Planning and Zoning Commission on its request that the town transfer approximately 260 feet of the northern section of Fellows Street Extension, which is “not an accepted public street” to serve as a driveway serving three buildings that are part of the Stonington Housing Authority’s Edith K. Richmond senior housing development on Sisk Drive.

The Housing Authority requested the transfer “in order to continue to maintain and incorporate the Authority’s rules and regulations in this area as it does for their other property,” PZC records show. PZC members concluded the transfer would meet the town’s Plan of Conservation Development recommendation on age-restricted housing.
