Stonington police probe Stillman Avenue assault

-->

STONINGTON — Police are investigating an assault that sent a Pawcatuck man to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London with injuries Sunday morning.

Stonington Police Lt. Todd Olsen said the incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. at 16 Stillman Ave.

At about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a man dressed in a hospital gown was seen getting out of a taxi and walking toward the house where an officer stood in front of one of the doors of the multifamily house with yellow police tape across the front.

Olsen said today that most of those who were in the apartment at the time of the incident work at the Mexicali Restaurant in Stonington. He said the victim — the man in the gown — was not allowed to return while the investigation was taking place.

Olsen said there was only one victim, but police are unsure if there was one or more assailants and were interviewing people in the area. He said a language barrier is making the task a little more difficult. He would not release the name of the injured man until the department investigates further.
