  • Letter: Taking stock of Westerly Automatic Telephone

How I look forward to Gloria’s “Reminiscing” articles!

I do need to express a personal opinion of my own here. I think it would have been an asset if she had included a short sentence concerning the stock that the Westerly Automatic Telephone Company sold at one time.

Perhaps someone has a photo to share or more information on the subject of local stock certificates?

You might question how I know of the above. A member of my family owned a few shares at one time. She was able to purchase hers from Dr. Arthur Gold, who at one time had his office and residence on Elm Street here in historical downtown Westerly.

Arthur is buried in River Bend Cemetery on Beach Street along with his wife and daughter.
