STONINGTON — School officials have received authorization from the state to seek bids to repair the leaky roof at Deans Mill Elementary School, District Operations and Business Manager Bill King said Tuesday.
King said the bid opening for the roof will be by July 2, and the site walk will be this coming Monday. The $1.2 million project will replace the entire roof, which has five actively leaking roof areas — over the cafeteria, library media center, gym, office and an instructional wing. King also said Tuesday the state will reimburse 32.14 percent of the cost of the new roof system, which Superintendent Van Riley said will remedy all of the pooling and leaking. Also, all of the school’s skylights, which were installed in 2010 in 24 locations throughout the roof, will be removed. Work on the roof will begin based on the schedule of the roofing company.
