Sunbathers and surfers take advantage of the nice weather earlier this month to hang out on East Beach behind Taylor Swift's Watch Hill property. Three local twenty-somethings were arrested on Sunday, June 16, 2014, and charged with hurling bottles and insults toward security guards working for Swift who were stationed near the beach. 3 face charges for behavior outside Swift property

WESTERLY — Three 20-somethings were charged Sunday with hurling beer bottles and shouting expletives toward security officers patrolling the perimeter of the home of mega-star Taylor Swift at 16 Bluff Ave. in Watch Hill.

Michael Horrigan, 29, of 355 Providence-New London Turnpike, North Stonington; Tristan J. Kading, 28, of the same address; and Emily E. Kading, 26, of 159 Mechanic St., Pawcatuck, were charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said they were contacted by one of Swift’s security guards near the access to East Beach who said two males and a female threw beer bottles onto the singer’s property in his direction.

The guard, Ryan Poirier, said the three then “extended their middle fingers” and shouted the corresponding expletive.

Police said Poirier was able to point out the alleged bottle-throwers, whom he had also photographed with his cell phone.

Patrolman Matthew Hayden said as he and Poirier made their way over to speak with the trio, Horrigan ran in the direction of the Ocean House, prompting a call to another officer for backup. Meanwhile the others were taken into custody, handcuffed and identified by Poirier as the alleged perpetrators.

Officer Robert Gilman caught up with Horrigan, who was also arrested and identified as a bottle-thrower and middle-finger-flipper.

All were transported to the Westerly police station where they were processed and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The were released on a promise to appear in 4th Division District Court at a later date and ordered not to trespass on Swift’s property.

Swift was not home at the time of the incident.
