Twin sisters face DUI charges

STONINGTON — Police charged a pair of 25-year-old twin sisters from Mystic with driving under the influence and causing property damage within 24 hours of each other on Saturday and Sunday.

Kathleen S. Murphy, of 140 Latimer Point Road, Mystic, was charged at 1:49 a.m., Saturday with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving without minimum insurance, improper use of markers and failure to register a motor vehicle eligible for commercial registration. Police said she backed into a car at Hootie’s Good Times Cafe in Pawcatuck.

Hannah R. Murphy, of the same address, was charged at 1:46 a.m., Sunday, with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, evading responsibility and failure to drive right. Police said she struck a sign and left the scene.

The sisters are scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on June 17.
