Letter: ‘Jersey girl’ feels welcomed — by most

I read with interest your editorial about summer tourists invading the area. Having grown up at the shore, I appreciate the kind of things you pointed out about tourists and I understand the negative feelings some readers have about tourists.

But my shore was the Jersey Shore and I therefore take offense to the reference (tourists) “God forbid, from Jersey.”

For years we have visited South County. We have held events here, bringing friends, relatives and their dollars in. Only a few months ago, we moved into our South County year-round home. We did not know anyone held negative feelings about New Jersey because we have met only welcoming people.

But I will always be a Jersey Girl. I know your reference was done in a light tone. For me, I will chalk it up to “Jersey-Pork Roll- Envy” and let it go.
