Boat burns, sinks off Little Compton, but occupants rescued

LITTLE COMPTON, R.I. (AP) — Four people were rescued in the waters off Little Compton when the sailboat they were on caught fire and then sank.

WJAR-TV reports it happened Friday morning. No one was reported injured.

Boats from Little Compton and nearby towns responded, as did the Coast Guard. But by the time they arrived, officials said, the boat could not be saved.
