Letter: Great support from volunteers for flag effort

I would like to thank all the folks who volunteered to help put up and take down all those flags for the Memorial Day weekend.

An average of 17 people helped set up Saturday morning and take them down on Monday at 4 p.m. Included in this group were the Boy-Scout Troop #16, from Saint Pius X.

Each person took great pride in setting up those colors. Some folks brought small children to help. It was a good team effort.

It was decided to leave the flags up all weekend, rather than to take them in each evening. There were 199 hundred flags set up, 60 dedicated flags and 139 regular flags.

The volunteers did a terrific job and should be commended for their efforts.
