Bone marrow registry drive at Blood Center

WESTERLY — Debra Dobson, RN, of Westerly, in conjunction with the Student Nurse Organization of CCRI and Be the Match, Bone Marrow Registry, will hold a bone marrow registration drive at the Rhode Island Blood Center, 143 Franklin St., on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registrants should be between the ages of 18 to 44 and in good health.

More than 12,000 people a year are diagnosed with life-threatening blood diseases such as leukemia or lymphoma in the United States. A transplant of bone marrow from an unrelated donor is usually needed in these cases.
