WESTERLY— The Westerly Library will reopen Monday after closing early Saturday afternoon due to a burst water pipe.
Dan Snydacker, interim director, described the incident as minor and said that aside from a wet carpet, no damage was caused. The reason for the early closing was more due to the location of the break — in the circulation area— than the severity of the damage, according to Snydacker.
An older pipe set against an exterior wall behind the circulation desk froze and burst. The library closed soon after discovery of the problem and remained closed on Sunday as part of its normal winter schedule.
The library will resume its normal schedule Monday, opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m.
