  • Richmond man arraigned on child porn charges

WAKEFIELD — A Richmond man was arraigned in 4th Division District Court on Wednesday after being arrested on charges of possession and transfer of child pornography by Rhode Island State Police.

William L. Simcock, 65, of 60 Heaton Orchard Road, was released on $10,000 personal recognizance with a no-contact order with children younger than 18 and no use of computers, including smartphones or any device that could provide access to the Internet, pending a screening on Dec. 10.

The arrest was part of a larger undercover investigation by members of the Rhode Island Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The two-month investigation revealed images and videos of child pornography in file sharing software, according to Detective Commander Maj. Todd Catlow. Their findings led to the arrest of 11 individuals, including Simcock, in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. All but one of the arrested individuals was released on personal recognizance with same conditions as Simcock. The ICAC task force is administered by Rhode Island State Police and includes members of the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit and detectives from various town police departments.
