    Primary care provider joins Westerly Hospital

    WESTERLY — Dr. Meghan Grant has joined Westerly Hospital’s medical staff. Dr. Grant will provide comprehensive primary care to children and adults of all ages, and is currently accepting new patients. Her office is located at 46 Wells St. To schedule an appointment, call 401-596-0174.

    Dr. Grant received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, and completed her residency in family medicine at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine. Her special interests include women’s health, including prenatal care, dermatology, office-based procedures including vasectomies, and osteopathic manipulative medicine.

    Westerly dentist recognized by Incisal Edge

    Dr. Jennifer Torbett was recognized in Incisal Edge magazine’s third annual “40 under 40,” a list of the “finest young dentists who exemplify the innovative present and boundless future promise of our industry.”

    She was the only dentist from Rhode Island who was featured in the fall issue of the publication, a lifestyle magazine for dental professionals. It is a subsidiary of Forbes magazine. The honor included a photo shoot in New York City.

    Torbett was nominated because she “runs a practice in which she incorporates the latest medical techniques, her knowledge of which she augments as a professor at Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine.”

    Her practice, Crestview Dental Associates, is located at 33 Crestview Drive in Westerly.

    Natural Family Health welcomes new doctor

    PAWCATUCK — Locally owned Natural Family Health and Integrative Medicine has welcomed a new naturopathic physician, Dr. Lindsay Chimileski, N.D.

    Dr. Chimileski is a naturopathic physician and acupuncture specialist. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut, she completed her Doctorate Degree at the University of Bridgeport’s College of Naturopathic Medicine, becoming a board-certified naturopathic physician. Additionally, she is completing her final clinical hours for her Master’s of Acupuncture from the University of Bridgeport.

    Chimilesi offers general naturopathic medicine but also brings a strong traditional Chinese medicine influence to the practice, including therapies shuch as acupuncture, cupping, moxa, gua sha, tui na massage and facial rejuvenation.

    Washington Trust provides $5.25M in financing to Cranston apartment complex

    WESTERLY — Washington Trust’s Commercial Real Estate Group recently provided $5,250,000 million in financing to Residences at Garden City LLC for the purchase of Garden City Apartments, a garden-style apartment complex in Cranston. The complex, which maintains an on-site rental office, consists of seven two-story buildings with 56 one-bedroom apartments and 38 two-bedroom units across 5.16 acres of land.

    The property, built in 1948, is adjacent to the northern end of Garden City Shopping Center, which is one of Rhode Island’s favorite retail destinations.     Westerly Hospital to present program on breast cancer

    WESTERLY — In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Westerly Hospital will host a free community education program entitled “Breast Cancer: The Latest in Screening Recommendations and Treatment Options” on Monday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in Westerly Hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. Presenting will be three Westerly Hospital physicians, Shereene Brown, MD, Obstetric and Gynecology, Jeffrey L. Christian, MD, General Surgery, and Robert Legare, MD, Oncology/Hematology. They will discuss the latest screening recommendations and treatment updates including both surgical and nonsurgical (chemotherapy and immunotherapy) options.

    Pavilion introduces Keurig Coffee Station

    ASHAWAY — The Pavilion Steakhouse and Banquets, in conjunction with Acqua Fresca Bottled Spring Water & Coffee Products, a locally owned and operated company, has introduced its new Keurig Coffee Station.

    One of the first in the area, the K-cup station gives customers several options.     Olde Mistick Village awarded October Business of the Month

    MYSTIC — Each month, the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce highlights a member business deserving special recognition. This month, the chamber has announced that Olde Mistick Village, 27 Coogan Blvd., is the October recipient of the Business of the Month award. In addition, the chamber acknowledged and congratulated owners Joyce Olson Resnikoff and Jerry Olson on Olde Mistick Village’s 40th anniversary.

    Webster Bank grants $6,000 to Capital Good Fund

    PROVIDENCE — Webster Bank has announced a grant of $6,000 to Capital Good Fund to support Empower Rhode Island, a financial literacy program launched in conjunction with Rhode Island’s Office of the General Treasurer earlier this year.

    Empower Rhode Island provides one-on-one financial coaching to Rhode Island adults and high school students from all walks of life. Financial coaching is based on the five principals of financial empowerment: learn, earn, save, invest and protect. Webster Bank provides five volunteer financial coaches to Empower Rhode Island: Senior Vice President, Market Manager Sharon Trask, Vice President, Government & Institutional Banking Pat Paola, and Mortgage Banking Officers Michelle Davidson, Helene Pelosi and Danielle Gatti.

    “Financial literacy and empowerment is one of Webster’s key philanthropic missions,” said Bob Twomey, regional president for Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. “Empower Rhode Island is filling a critical need in this state, providing real, actionable help to people who really need it.     RBS Citizens recognizes customer service week; donates meals for 100,000 families

    PROVIDENCE — RBS Citizens Financial Group Inc. marked the international customer service week by announcing the donation of meals for 100,000 families in honor of the customers of Citizens Bank, Charter One and RBS Citizens. The donations came as part of the bank’s broader “Customer Experience Week” initiative, which was timed to coincide with international Customer Service Week. Customer Experience Week focused on thanking customers and recognizing colleagues for their commitment to customers.

    “Serving our customers well is at the center of our culture as a company,” said Bruce Van Saun, chairman and CEO of RBS Citizens Financial Group. “We are committed to their well-being, and to the well-being of the communities we serve. With the holiday season fast approaching, this donation to feed 100,000 families in need is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the communities and customers we serve every day.”

    In addition to honoring its customers with donations to local food banks, Customer Experience Week saw bank executives visit with customers in branches and at their companies to thank them for their business. Customers who visited a Citizens Bank or Charter One branch during the week had an opportunity to receive a 2014 wall calendar.
