  • Driving charge sends Westerly woman to jail

WAKEFIELD — A 50-year-old Westerly woman was sentenced to jail time after admitting to charges she drove a vehicle after her license had been suspended previously for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Fourth Division District Court Judge Madeline Quirk sentenced Vicki Devoe, of 46 Pierce St., to one year at the Adult Correctional Institutions, 10 days to serve, the balance suspended, with probation.

Devoe was escorted out of the courtroom by sheriffs to immediately begin her term.

Devoe was arrested in Charlestown in June, charged with felony possession of cocaine, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating on a suspended license and obstructing a police officer.

She was also charged with Rhode island Traffic Tribunal infractions of operating an unregistered vehicle, failure to maintain control of her vehicle and having no proof of insurance.

Her most recent charge occurred in Westerly in September.
