Westerly man, 29, arraigned on felony molestation charges

WAKEFIELD — A 29-year-old Westerly man entered no plea in Washington County Superior Court Friday to multiple felony counts of child molestation.

Andrew E. Perkins, of 39 Moonlight Drive, was charged with one count of first-degree and three counts of second-degree child molestation on a boy, aged 14 or younger, on multiple dates from 2008 to 2010.

Perkins was indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury Thursday and arraigned on Friday.

An investigation conducted by Westerly Police beginning in May, alleges Perkins sexually assaulted a boy, with the incidents occurring in homes in Westerly and North Kingstown. The young man reportedly told a relative of the alleged abuse.

Westerly police interviewed the alleged victim, now a teenager, and information was sent to a grand jury for its consideration.

Perkins was also issued a no-contact order with the alleged victim. Perkins was released on $10,000 personal recognizance for a pretrial appearance on Oct. 25
