  • Police seize nearly 200 marijuana plants

HOPKINTON — Approximately 190 marijuana plants were seized by Hopkinton police on Thursday during the arrest of a man with addresses in both Hopkinton and Charlestown.

Gene Zeldin, 39, of 24 Colonial Village Road in Hopkinton and 32 Shore Drive in Charlestown, was charged with two counts of manufacture/cultivation of marijuana, one from each town.Hopkinton police began their investigation on Monday, and executed a search warrant of Zeldin’s Hopkinton home on Thursday. They found about 60 marijuana plants, most of which were mature.

After receiving permission to search Zeldin’s Charlestown residence, which was expected to contain only a few marijuana seedlings, Hopkinton and Charlestown police found approximately 130 marijuana plants, most of which were vegetative. In addition to seizing the 190 plants, police also seized approximately $1,200 in cash, a generator, and growing equipment.

Zeldin was arranged in Fourth District Court by Associate Judge Pamela Woodcock-Pfeiffer, and was released on $10,000 personal recognizance with a felony screening date of Oct. 29.
