John Diez, with Mon Landscaping Inc., of North Dartmouth, Mass., directs the excavator operator to dump loam along the sidewalk on Elm Street in Westerly this week. The long-awaited road work on the one-mile stretch of Elm between Broad and Beach streets includes rebuilding the road, drainage work, new sidewalks and landscaping. Similar work is being done on Dixon, Railroad and West streets over the next couple of weeks. Additional work will take place on Beach Street this fall. | ( Jill Connor / The Westerly Sun )
