YMCA plans summer bash

PEACE DALE — The South County YMCA will hold an End of Summer Bash Concert Fundraiser featuring the music of Jim Halloran and Billy Mitchell on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 4:30 p.m. until dusk.

The event will be held on the lawn at the rear of the YMCA facility at 165 Broad Rock Road. The event is open to the public and free of charge, although donations to the YMCA general fund will be accepted. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic to enjoy the music with. A food truck will also be on hand for coffee, tea and pastries.

Halloran started playing guitar in 1959. He has played in a number of bands since then including The Bees Knees, playing the Rhode Island shoreline from 1997 to 2004.

Mitchell has been performing for more than 30 years with a cappella quartet The Hudsons, Classic rock band New York Minute, and solo engagements. He’s appeared at many local and regional venues including AS220, Providence Performing Arts Center, Fort Adams, Charlie Hall’s Ocean State Follies, The Rhode Show and The John Depetro Show.

His fifth CD of original music is titled “Boomer Power” and has become a touring stage show.

For more information, contact Tara Converse, South County YMCA at 401-783-3900, Ext. 111.
