  • Ashaway man charged with assault

PAWCATUCK — An Ashaway man faces several charges after being arrested by Stonington police downtown Monday night after a fight in downtown Pawcatuck.

Sean M. McQuire, 21, of 4 Maxson St., Ashaway, was charged with third-degree assault: causing minor injuries or an intent to cause minor injuries, and breach of peace. Police said earlier this morning that McQuire was also charged with the carrying and/or sale of a dangerous weapon. McQuire was found in possession of a knife, but that was not used in the fight at West Broad and Liberty streets.

Westerly Ambulance Corps personnel were on the scene at about 6:30 p.m. and a victim was transported to The Westerly Hospital with what was described as minor injuries.

McQuire was located shortly after the incident.
