STONINGTON — An Ashaway man, Dylan M. McGuire, 23, of 7 Maxson St., is facing charges after police said he barged into the room of a resident at the Elm Tree Inn on Thursday afternoon and proceeded to punch someone in the face. He was charged Thursday with breach of peace and was released on a $600 bond. The incident was called in as a fight in progress, and when Stonington officers arrived at the rooming house on West Broad Street around 2 p.m., they determined that McGuire was “extremely intoxicated” and had punched a person in the face “for no reason.” The police report said, “The accused continued his behavior before running up to the second floor where officers detained him.” Court records in Rhode Island and Connecticut show that McGuire had been arrested over a dozen times in the past year for charges ranging from drug possession to DUI and motor vehicle theft. He is due in New London Superior Court on July 21 to answer the latest charge.
