KINGSTON — Farmers and landowners can learn to plan for the succession and transfer of their property to the next generation or to another owner at a free interactive workshop on Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the URI East Farm, Building 75, East Farm Road. The speakers will be Tess Brown-Lavoie, state field agent for Land For Good, a New Hampshire-based nonprofit that helps farmers and landowners lease, buy, and preserve farmland; Jon Jaffee, an adviser for Farm Credit East, an agricultural lending institution; and Sumana Chintapalli, a legal fellow working for the farm and food program of the Conservation Law Foundation.

Topics will include tax and financial strategies, estate planning options, legal resources, lease arrangements, and preservation options. Register by calling 603-357-1600 or online at landforgood.org/rsvp. Local refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.
