Dunn’s Corners Fire District to set tax rate, elect members

WESTERLY — The annual meeting of the electors of the Dunn’s Corners Fire District will be held at the Dunn’s Corners Fire Station No. 1 on July 16, at 7 p.m.

The meeting is to set the tax rate, adopt a budget, authorize borrowing and to elect at-large members of the operating committee.

Terms will expire for two of the four operating committee at-large members, Robert Delaney and Jonathan Schreier. The two incumbents have decided to run for re-election. Other individuals may run as well. Terms of office for the following appointed positions will expire at the annual meeting: clerk, treasurer, tax assessor/collector and nominating committee.

If any eligible elector of the district wants to make a proposal at the annual meeting that will “require the appropriation of money,” the charter requires the elector to submit the proposal to the operating committee by July 7.

Nominations must be submitted by June 16. To make nominations, or for more information, call Matthew Thomsen at 401-322-0577, Ext. 6, or email districtmoderator@dunnscornersfire.com.
