Artist to give talk about book

WESTERLY — Artist and author Jean Lazar will talk about her book, “Their Last Painting,” at the Artist’s Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, 7 Canal, St., on Saturday, from 1 to 2 p.m.

The book was written based on the Lazar’s experiences in caring for the terminally ill. According to her website, jeanlazar.com, “the main characters in the book come from all walks of life, as their ages, ethnic backgrounds, gender and race vary. Their stories illustrate to the living what death and dying can teach.”

Lazar has been with the Center for Hospice Care SECT for 15 years in various capacities, giving “compassionate touch” to the terminally ill while comforting their loved ones. She is a massage therapist, an energy healer, and is certified in therapeutic touch and reiki.

Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing. The book talk is free and the public is invited to attend.

Lazar’s paintings are also featured in the current exhibit at the gallery, which runs through March 30. The show also features the work of artist Laura Cobden.

Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 401-596-2221 or visit westerlyarts.com.
