    Southern R.I. Volunteers

Searching for a place where you’re needed? Southern Rhode Island Volunteers places volunteers with more than 100 nonprofit community partners. Call us at 789-2362 or email lptanner@southernrivol.org. Adults 18 and older are welcome; and for positions at the SRI Volunteers’ office, so are teens aged 13 to 17. Our website address is www.southernrivol.org.

Greeters are needed for the 2013 Harvest Jonnycake Festival at Kenyon’s Grist Mill in West Kingston. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 19-20.

SRIV is looking for drivers for weekday morning routes throughout South County. It also needs volunteers as grocery shoppers for clients and for medical transportation throughout South County.

The Charlestown Community Garden needs five to 10 volunteers to help out on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons, putting up fencing, making vegetable beds, planting vegetables and doing routine garden upkeep.

Two elderly couples in the South Kingstown area are hoping for one or more visits a week from Friendly Visitors. In one instance, a World War II veteran and his wife are looking for someone to visit with them, join them in short walks or some light gardening or other activities. The other couple needs someone to accompany them to the local pool or park. This would involve pushing a wheelchair.

SRIV is seeking someone to write stories about particular volunteers, clients and community partners.
