    People, Oct. 18, 2013

    Matthew Tetreault, son of Scott and Donna Tetreault of Pawcatuck, graduated from basic training at the Fort Sill U.S. Army base in Lawton, Okla., on Sept. 6. He has since gone on to Fort Sam Houston in Texas for advanced individual training to become an operating room technician. After completing that training in November, he will continue on for clinical training.

    Matthew Steiner of Westerly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautics and astronautical engineering following the spring semester at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.

    The following students were named to the dean’s list at the University of New Haven for the spring 2013 semester: Jeffrey Butler, Ryan Finton and Britta Johnson of Mystic; Joanna Dobson, Francis Pellicano, and Chelsea Randall of Westerly; Kevin Henne of North Stonington; Matthew Morin of Pawcatuck; and Lindsey Michaels and Crystal Shaw of Stonington, Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the list.

    Ben Shippee of Westerly has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in games and simulation arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

    Jessica Long of North Stonington, was named to the Plymouth State University dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester.

    Alexandra Fish and Shelby Harold, both of Westerly, have enrolled as first-time students at James Madison University. Both students are planning to major in international business.

    Villanova University named the following students to the dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester: Lizandra Fiske, from Westerly, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Donald Portofee, from Westerly, is studying computing sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and Abbey Reiser, from Mystic, is studying psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,

    Lindsey Allen of Westerly was named to the spring 2013 dean’s List at Coker College, Hartsville, S.C.

    The following local residents began their first year at Saint Michael’s College this semester: Nicole Corneau, daughter of Gerard and Jessica Corneau of Ashaway and a graduate of The Prout School; and Daniel Rathbone, son of Donald and Lori Rathbone of Charlestown and a graduate of Chariho Regional High School.

    Western Connecticut State University, Danbury, welcomed these local students this fall: Emily Dobson of Westerly; Crystal Westrate of Mystic; and Michael Toole of Pawcatuck.

    The following local students graduated in August from the University of New Haven: Raymond Ng of Westerly, with a Bachelor of Science degree in legal studies; Richard Balestracci of Stonington, with a Master of Business Administration degree; Stacy Batty-Chavis of Mystic, with an Master of Arts degree in industrial/organizational psychology; Ashley Caracciolo of Westerly, with a Master of Science degree in education; Amy Drouillard of Pawcatuck, with an M.B.A.; Thomas Durham of North Stonington, with an M.S. in education.

    Emily Gay of North Stonington, with an M.S. in education; Jonathon McCoy of Stonington, with an M.A. in industrial/organizational psychology; William Mencer of Mystic, with an M.B.A.; Joseph Mitchell of Ashaway, with an M.S. in education; Luke Raffo of Stonington, with an M.B.A.; Derek Rollinson of North Stonington, with an M.B.A.; and Max Spelman of Westerly, with an M.B.A.
