BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN Sotia, New York. My father was a New York State Trooper who began his career on horseback guarding President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s family in Hyde Park.

She was a math and science teacher but became a children’s librarian when I was in high school. I used to help her put up bulletin boards in the library, and that’s when my interest in children’s literature was sparked.
