URI graduates 2,800
KINGSTON — The University of Rhode Island handed out diplomas to more than 2,800 undergraduates.
Sunday afternoon’s ceremony marked the 122nd commencement at the state university.
The graduates included 34 veterans, five sets of twins and 1,700 Rhode Islanders.
The school’s commencement speaker is Clarence Page, a columnist for the Chicago Tribune. The school is also giving out honorary degrees to William D. Warner, an Exeter-based architect, and former U.S. ambassador to South Korea Christopher Hill.
The college handed out diplomas to 643 graduate students on Saturday.
