Sarah Jane's playground gets a friend
HOPKINTON -- Marilyn McCullough says she envisions a place where children of all abilities can play together -- a park that would be built in memory of her late daughter.
But it needs a home.
Chariho Rotary Club President Rita Casady and McCullough said the nonprofit organization is seeking to acquire at least one acre within the Chariho region to build a playground that would include handicapped-accessible equipment.
McCullough, a former Ashaway resident, started the project about five years ago after her 9-year-old daughter Sarah Jane died. Sarah Jane had used a wheelchair and was unable to speak or hear due to a rare chromosomal disease.
