WESTERLY -- Jason Bolduc, 29, of Westerly was captured and taken into police custody Thursday afternoon, "without incident," according to Westerly Police Chief Edward A. Mello. He was apprehended at a residence on Marriott Avenue in the North End. Bolduc is the man police have been searching for since early Wednesday when it became clear that he was the second man in the 7-Eleven armed robbery of Monday morning. His alleged accomplice, Gregory L. Whiting, 45, of East Providence, charged in the vicious attack of an elderly woman during a home invasion in Pawcatuck Tuesday, was charged with first-degree robbery in court Wednesday. He was ordered held without bail. Bolduc is set to be held at Westerly police lock-up overnight and he will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court Friday morning when he too will be charged with first degree robbery, a capital offense in Rhode Island. Capital convictions can result in life in prison. See Friday's online and print editions for more on this story) |
