Youth football roundup: Westerly 10U shuts out Waterford

WATERFORD — Caleb Williams rushed for two touchdowns, passed for another and returned an interception for a score as the Westerly 10U football team beat Waterford, 33-0, on Sunday in a Southern New England Youth Football Conference game.

Williams scored on runs of 5 and 12 yards. He also threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Khael Myers. Jake Caron scored on a 7-yard run.

Brayden Antoch had two PATs and Williams another.

Trenton Turner blocked a punt and had two sacks. J.J. Sampson also played well on defense.

Westerly’s offensive line of Turner, Jacob Robinson, Sampson, Dany Alawar, Ryder Henderson and Calvin Hill all played well.

Westerly (1-1) travels to New London Saturday. The game could be moved to Westerly as work is being done to the Whalers field.

Westerly 14U 40, Old Saybrook 7

OLD SAYBROOK — Zach Tuck scored three touchdowns as Westerly topped Old Saybrook on Sunday.

Tuck scored on a 55-yard run, a 2-yard run and return an interception 40 yards for another score.

Jaden Discuillo had a 16-yard TD run and Dugan Marsh scored from three yards out. John Sullivan ran 20 yards for the final Westerly score.

Jimmy Powers caught a conversion pass from Lance Williams and Williams also ran in a conversion.

Griffin Aldridge had an interception. Defensive ends Ben Goodman and A.J. Platt and middle linebacker Discuillo all played well. The offensive line did a “decent job blocking this week,” according to coach Joe Vacca.

Westerly (1-1) hosts New London on Saturday.

Westerly 12U 26, Killing 6

WESTERLY — Camren Lewis rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Terrell Hill had a big game on the defensive side in Westerly’s win on Aug. 26.

Lewis scored on a pair of 1-yard runs. Hill, who also had a 42-yard TD run, made 13 tackles and intercepted a pass in the end zone. Five of his tackles went for a loss.

Jaesan Price scored the other Westerly TD on a 27-yard run. Andre Adams ran in two extra points.

Brian Allen finished with nine tackles. Aden Ruddock had two tackles for a loss and Lewis one.
