WESTERLY — Bronson Venable of Warwick topped the field in the Surftown Half Marathon on Sunday.
Venable covered the 13.1-mile course in 1:10:19. The course starts at Misquamicut State Beach and includes portions of Weekpaug and Watch Hill.
Semehar Tesfaye of West Roxbury, Mass. was the top female finisher in 1:20:22, good for ninth overall.
Marshall Johnson of North Stonington was the first local runner across the line placing 20th (1:27:36).
Kate LaBonte of Pawcatuck was the first local female finisher placing 80th in 1:39.06. The race had 899 finishers.
Dominic Abramo of South Glastonbury, Connecticut topped the field in the 5K race in 18:07. Sarah Michaud of Bristol, Connecticut was the first female placing seventh in 21:12.
Brian Kelley of Westerly was the first local finisher in 21:07, good for sixth.
Westerly’s Kelsey Seddon of Westerly was the first local female placing 19th in 22:58.
The races are conducted by the Hartford Marathon Foundation.
