Boys swimming: Ashaway’s Sheldon wins two events for Hendricken at D-I meet

BRISTOL — C.J. Sheldon, a freshman at Bishop Hendricken who lives in Ashaway, won two events at the Division I swim championships on Sunday at Roger Williams University.

Sheldon finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:46.63) and the 100 freestyle (50.02).

Sheldon was also on two second-place relays teams — the 200 freestyle and the 400 freestyle.

Hendricken finished first in the meet with 524 points. Barrington was second with 433. Westerly placed seventh with 149.

Hendricken has won the Division I meet all 16 years that is has taken place. The Hawks will be seeking their 28th state title in the last 29 years on Saturday at Brown University, starting at 9 a.m.
