SIESTA KEY, Fla. — Ashaway volleyball player Haley Sawyer, teaming with North Kingstown’s Jaime Harrington, finished third in the 16-and-under regional division of the USA National Beach Tour Junior Championships, which were held July 19-21.

Sawyer, 16, who’ll be a junior at North Kingstown High in the fall, and Harrington, a 15-year-old soon-to-be sophomore, went undefeated in pool play the first two days of the tournament to earn placement in the gold bracket, in which they won the bronze medal. The pair played teams from Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Minnesota and two teams from Florida.

The 16U regional included 60 teams.

Sawyer and Harrington have been playing beach volleyball together since 2014. Last fall, playing indoors for North Kingstown High, they were part of a Skippers team that went undefeated (21-0) and captured the Division I state title.
