Road racing: Bousquet is winner of annual Schonning 5K

WESTERLY — Tom Bousquet won the 21st annual Roger H. Schonning 5K on Friday.

The 36-year-old Westerly resident finished in a time of 17 minutes, 26 seconds. The race began and ended at the Ocean Community YMCA. Eighty five registered runners finished.

Westerly’s Kaya West, 13, was the top female, crossing the line in 20:36, which was good for seventh overall.

Other top local males were Aaron Tauarby of Westerly (second, 19:36); Ryan Gruczka of Stonington (third, 19:40); Jeffrey Vuono of Westerly (fourth, 19:42); Jeffrey Walker of Westerly (fifth, 19:57); and Tyler Faubert of Westerly (eighth, 20:40).

Other top local females were Erin vonHousen of Westerly (13th overall, 21:32); Julia Mastrandrea of Westerly (21st, 23:24); Amy Rio of Westerly (23rd, 23:30); Jessica Mastrandrea of Westerly (25th, 23:43); and Kristen Majeika of Ashaway (27th, 23:47).
