Road racing: North Stonington’s Olivier places first in Battle of Stonington 5K

STONINGTON — North Stonington’s Mark Olivier won the 19th annual Battle of Stonington 5K on Tuesday, finishing the borough course in 15 minutes, 59 seconds.

Olivier, 33, crossed the line five seconds ahead of last year’s winner, Nicholas Migani, 28, of Higganum, Conn., who ran a 16:04.

The top female finisher was Erin Hub, 23, of Westerly. She finished in 20:06, which was good for 11th overall. There were 166 registered finishers.

Other top local males were Sam Alexander of Mystic (third overall, 16:09); Carson Riley of Mystic (fifth, 18:48); Marshall Johnson of North Stonington (eighth, 19:10); Ryan Gruczka of Stonington (17th, 20:41); and Greg Sugar of Pawcatuck (18th, 20:53).

Other top local females were Emeline McKeown of Mystic (29th, fourth female, 21:34); Abby Connell of Mystic (37th, fifth female, 22:17); Ali Peters of Mystic (39th, 22:23); Lily Anderson of Mystic (40th, 22:39); and Melanie Diamanti of Pawcatuck (41st, 22:40).
