WESTERLY — Matthew Walker, a 2018 Westerly High graduate, was the top local finisher in the Bottone Mile on Wednesday.
Walker, 18, finished the race’s new Misquamicut road course in 4:39. He trailed only Norwich’s Nick Fitch (4:32) and Kingston’s Chris Garvin (4:37). Ninety-three runners took part.
The top female finisher was Randi Burr, 19, also a 2018 Westerly High grad. She finished in 5:20, good for eighth overall.
Other top local males were Keith McAteer of Westerly (fourth overall, 4:55); Tommy Bousquet of Westerly (fifth, 5:01); Nick Turo of Westerly (sixth, 5:16); and Aaron Tallardy of Westerly (seventh, 5:17).
Other top local females were Kaya West of Westerly (14th overall, 5:51); Erin vonHousen of Westerly (17th, 5:56), Shara Bousquet of Westerly (22nd, 6:31); and Helena Hall-Thomsen of Westerly (26th, 6:41).
In the children’s 1/3-mile race, Emerson Federico was the top finisher in 2:12. Gianna Federico (2:30) and Lucille Walker (2:33) rounded out the top three girls.
The top three boys were Emmett Holland (2:34), Luke West (2:39) and Chase Barnett (2:50).
