NECBL: Mystic falls at Ocean State

WAKEFIELD — Sonny Ulliana (Rhode Island) and Garrett Hodges (Kennesaw State) each homered as Ocean State defeated Mystic, 10-8, in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game on Wednesday at Old Mountain Field.

Hodges hit a two-run homer in the fourth and Ulliana had a three-run shot in the bottom of the eighth.

Matthew O’Neill had a big game for Mystic with a grand slam in the second inning. O’Neill finished the game with five RBIs.

Sean Sullivan (Dartmouth), Chris Winkel (Connecticut) and Anthony Cruz (Quinnipiac) also drove in runs for Mystic.

Ocean State (25-18) led 6-4 before scoring four runs in the seventh to take a 10-4 lead.

Ocean State starter Thad Harris (Winthrop) pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. He struck out four. Mystic starter James Proctor (Princeton) took the loss. He gave up three hits and four earned runs after pitching three innings.

Mystic (21-21) travels to Newport on Wednesday for a 6:35 p.m. game. Mystic leads Newport by half a game for third place in the Southern Division. The top three teams advance to the playoffs.
